Fillers: everything you need to know before you get injected

Updated: Sep 20, 2020

If you know someone who talks openly about fillers, it's because they likely can't believe the effects. It's likely you know one of these people - considering in 2019 there were over 3 million procedures undertaken!

Fillers are popular. But that doesn't mean everyone understands what they are. What even ARE they?! How long do they last? What is it used for? How much will it cost? Before you go under the needle, we want to help answer all those questions you have.

What is filler?

Filler is made from hylauronic acid. Yes, it may sound familiar. This is becau

se it's a naturally found substance in the human body. There are different types that are ideal for different parts of the face base

d on its density. Juvaderm for example, is perfect for cheekbones, thinner fillers are great for naturally enhancing your lips. Then there is the medium viscosity which are ideal for nasolabial lines (nose to lip) and marionette (lip to chin). But, you don't have to worry about this. A reputable injector (i.e. ME!) will know exactly what type of filler to place and where to place it.

What can I use it for?

ALL the wrinkles. Smoothing them out. Also, to add shape and definition to your face - lips, cheeks, jawline etc. Making sure you select the right injector for this is key - you'd be surprised how much a tiny amount can change your face. And it should change your face for the better - this comes with experience! Make sure you ask for lots of before and after pics on the area you would like to enhance before selecting an injector.

When will I see results?

This isn't like anti-wrinkle injections. The results are INSTANT. Yes, instant. Did someone say "last-minute-party-prep?!"...

How long will my filler last?

This differs based on person to person, where you are injecting, how fast your metabolism is and what filler you are using. However you can expect it to last anywhere between six months to two years. Also, how frequently you move an area can contribute towards this - for example, your mouth moves a lot so it's likely to break down the filler faster than the under-eye tear trough area.

How much will it cost?

It depends on what you'd like to get done.. Here with MWAH our prices can be seen here.

I don't want to look "fake!"

This is such a myth. The best injections are those that your friends don't notice! I want you to leave MWAH looking your best you, not a new version of you - and one your family will wonder what is making you look so good! You will leave feeling rested and refreshed. The key to this is really your injector. Read reviews. Look at images. Never go to someone who is not legitimate.

The possible side-effects

Remember that we said filler is naturally occurring in the body? Well, that mean's it can always be dissolved. This however does not mean they shouldn't be taken seriously. They can come with adverse reactions such as skin necrosis, stroke or blindness. YIKES. You can therefore see why it is SO important to select someone is well trained. Or better still, is so good they train others. Oh wait... That's MWAH. ;)
